DELICATE BALANCE
DELICATE BALANCE resulted from a cross I did several years ago and has proven to be a good parent for creating wide, round forms. Its parentage is MY DARLING CLEMENTINE X CARTIER'S GEM. Delicate Balance just makes it into the large flower class. And while I've taken it to large and small flowers with success, it seems to be the smaller ones that have benefited most. Delicate Balance is one of those daylilies that I continue to hybridize with because it has so many good traits, but with a bud count of only 15, it will remain a hybridizers plant.

MAGICAL BLEND
23" EM 3.75" EMO (Delicate Balance X Little Mystic Moon)
This is a very dependable small daylily that is always wide open first thing in the morning. Because I was working with My Darling Clementine, I had hoped to get rebloom out of this cross but it didn't show up in MAGICAL BLEND. However, many of its siblings do show rebloom and one of them is a parent of Alice Faye (listed below). MAGICAL BLEND is a beautiful polychrome that has wax-like substance and the wide round form that I love. 21 buds. A few are available for sale @ $30.

ALICE FAYE
26" ERe 3" (Delicate Balance x Little Mystic Moon) X Merry Company
I am honored to be able to name this daylily for Alice Pruitt, the "first lady" of the Central Daylily Club of North Carolina. Although Delicate Balance is one of its grandparents, Alice Faye is really more of a study in line breeding with Liz Salter's Little Mystic Moon - Merry Company is LITTLE MYSTIC MOON X PAPER BUTTERFLY. Alice Faye has well-branched scapes and 32 buds; it also has immediate rebloom. It is a beautifully formed full flower with soft, looping ruffles that go right into the throat. I'm eager to see the next generation of line breeding Little Mystic Moon seedlings with Alice Faye. A few available for sale in spring 2005 @ $50.

MAGICAL BLEND X FESTIVE ART
This is a pretty and dependable 4.75" pale shell pink flower with a rose eyezone. It is always fully open in the morning and has heavy substance. Like many of the Magical Blend kids, it is a husky plant. Growing 26" tall, it blooms early-midseason with three to four way branching and 25-30 buds. This will be named and available for sale in spring of 2005 @ $50.
