MISS SALLY is one of my own hybrids and is named for a friend's mother who lived in the mountains of western North Carolina and whose favorite color was red. It's a cross of FENCING MASTER X FLAMENCO QUEEN. The flowers are 5.5" and the bud count is good at about 25. Although it's not registered as reblooming, it will with enough moisture. I like its clear red color and husky growth habit. It's producing seedlings with wide petals and rich color saturation. It grows 32" tall and is fertile both ways. A few are available in fall of 2004 @$35.
MISS SALLY X SUPER PURPLE PRIZE
This dormant seedling has been around for a while - I continue to hang on to it because of its rich color and superb branching. I'm surprised that Super Purple Prize has not been used more frequently as a parent - it's been a superior daylily in my garden with excellent branching and color.
(FENCING MASTER x FLAMENCO QUEEN) X (UNTAMED GLORY x IN THE DARK)
The pod parent of this cross is an unnamed sibling to Miss Sally. I was pleasantly surprised by the rich clear colors the siblings in this cross have. All are in the 5.5-6" range with good branching - this one pictured has 30 buds.
MISS SALLY X MARIA CALLAS
I've used some of David Kirchhoff's red daylilies in my breeding because they have clear colors and the wide, round form that I like. I was hoping to produce large reds with the Maria Callas form - I missed the mark, but have some pretty flowers for my efforts.
