PRACTICAL MAGIC

PRACTICAL MAGIC (2000)

36" MLa 5.5" Twilight Sun X (Indonesia x Guiniver's Gift) Practical Magic is a dormant daylily with deep butter yellow flowers and very ruffled petals - not surprising since both 'Ever So Ruffled' and 'Indonesia' are in its background. During periods of exceptionally hot weather, the flower will "frost over" getting lighter in color - but it is not unattractive and it never looses its substance. 'Practical Magic' has 21 buds on branched scapes. A few will be available in fall of 2009 @ $25.
RUPERT

RUPERT(2009)

34" La Re 6.5" SEV Diploid (Autumn King x Heaven Can Wait) X sdlg 'Rupert' begins blooming when most midseason daylilies have finished, and also produces immediate rebloom scapes. This clear yellow daylily honors the memory my late friend Rupert Barneby, who worked at The New York Botanical Garden as a botanist and taxonomist. Dr. Barneby's long career at the botanical garden overlapped Dr. Stout's tenure there. Rupert liked simple daylilies that resembled the species. Fertile both ways. A few of these are available @ $40.
LAURIE THORP

LAURIE THORP (2008)

32" ML Re 5" SEV Tetraploid (Liam x sdlg) X Earth Music 'Laurie Thorp' is a beautiful, ruffled, lavender-violet blend with a small watermark. It is a vigorous grower, a fertile parent, and very floriferous - typically 4-5 branches and 30 or more buds, and rebloom. Fall only, $65.
ROCKOLA RED

ROCKOLA RED (2008)

29" M 5.5" SEV Tetraploid (Miss Sally X Crimes of Passion) 'Rockola Red' is a very showy, bright red self with good sunfastness. I registered this one during a very dry season and it had 14 buds, but last summer it had over 20, and an additional branch. 'Rockola Red' is a vigorous grower and a fertile parent, producing beautiful red and purple seedlings. $65
SYMPHONY IN YELLOW

SYMPHONY IN YELLOW (2006)

40" EM 6.5" SEV Tetraploid (Something Wonderful X Isosceles) 'Symphony in Yellow' is a bright, ruffled, medium yellow self. I've always admired Oscie Whatley's daylilies and in particular his yellows. I've been breeding with several of his yellows to produce some of my own lines; 'Symphony in Yellow' is the first intro. It's fertile, but a difficult pod parent. I like the size of this flower, it starts off at 7" but settles to about 6.5". Fall only, $50.
REDCLAY ROSE

REDCLAY ROSE (2008)

38" EM 6" SEV Tetraploid (New Perspective X Angie Alabama) 'Redclay Rose' is a heavily budded rose-pink bitone that reblooms with ample moisture. 'Redclay Rose' has 4-5 branches and 30 or more buds. A fertile parent for bitone/bicolor flowers. Only a few are available in the fall. $65
ORANGE OBSESSION

ORANGE OBSESSION(2005)

39" EM 6.5" SEV Tetraploid (sdlg X unknown) 'Orange Obsession' is a tall orange and yellow blend that is a real bright spot in the garden. It is very floriferous, producing about 30 buds. I've had good results using 'Orange Obsession' as a parent, but it does not pod easily. $50
ANGIE ALABAMA

ANGIE ALABAMA (2001)

41" M 5" DOR Tetraploid (Flying Carpet X Season's Greetings) Tall and branched with about 23 buds. My best parent for bitone/bicolor seedlings - works well with purple, pink, red, and orange. Like many in this category, "Angie" requires consistently warm temperatures -- especially at night -- to do its thing. Very few plants are available. $75.
